Jászapáti
Jászapáti is the second largest town of the Jászság area, the number of its residents are 9,380. The settlement, with a history of over 600 years, stretching on the plain area between the rivers Tisza and Zagyva, was awarded the town rank for the first time in 1746, which was lost in 1876 and regained only much later, in 1989.
Tourism, sights
One of the attractions of Jászapáti is the curative water strand, built in the early 1960s. This 45 °C Thermal Spring Bath erupts from an 805 metres deep well. A three-star camping site that can accommodate 240 guests also belongs to the bath; in the resort area, we can find 387 weekend cottages, a hotel, a pension, a fishing pond, tennis courts and a football pitch covered with artificial grass.
The two-steepled Roman Catholic church of Jászapáti is a Medieval monument. The secco of the cupola of the church was painted by Vágó Pál, the famous painter of the town. The library, standing opposite the church, was built in the 19th century, in neo classicist style.
The memory of Vágó Pál is preserved by the local history museum, established in the close to 200 year-old house of his birth, also named after him.
Resting and relaxing
The most attractive establishment of the small region, the curative water thermal bath, is also popular with foreign guests.
The farm museum, depicting agricultural lifestyle, is located in the Jászszentandrás Road centre of a Jászapáti 2000. Mg. Zrt.
The Cultural Centre designed by Makovecz Imre houses theatre and cinema performances, and the community events of the town.
Lovers of angling are greeted by excellent fishing ponds. The rich fauna of the forests located along the edge of the town attract hunters. Guests who like horseback riding may also spend their time pleasantly with us. The town and its neighbourhood provide excellent locations for the organising of bicycle tours.
In the high season of the summer, open-air programmes bring colour during their stay of those spending their holiday here. Among the series of events, JÁSZSÁGI RANDEVÚ organised annually since 1973, ARATÓÜNNEP, with a 10 year-long tradition, and TAVASZINDÍTÓ GAZDANAPOK are outstanding.
Economy, schools, training
Jászapáti is a town of dominantly agricultural features, where smaller capacity light and food industrial plants and commercial units supplement agricultural production. Its geographical features, as well as historical and cultural heritage made the town the natural centre of organisation of Alsó-Jászság.
The direction of the small-region businesses and social connections are north-west, thus its lines of development were dominantly influenced by the closeness of Budapest, which greatly limited the economic development of Jászapáti, located in the farther area of Jászság, as compared to that of the towns in Felső-Jászság. It is exactly this situation that gives investors a more favourable offer in the labour market of Jászság, as in Alsó-Jászság – and in the neighbouring Dél-Heves small region, facing a similar situation – the number of job-seekers are high.
Jászapáti is a school-town, with 1,325 students studying in its two secondary schools at the moment. The traditions of secondary grammar, secondary technical and vocational trainings have a close to 100 year history. Both institutions train youngsters in the modern school buildings that are new or were renovated in 2005. In the secondary grammar and technical schools, secondary grammar as well as specialist economics and informatics training is conducted. In the vocational training school, there are 6 secondary technical trainings as well as 43 special vocational trainings in 11 trade groups. Within the framework of adult training, the schools also provide labour market training.
As a picture of the future, the institutions emphasise the securing of high-level professional training that is in line with the requirements of the labour market, offers a wide variety of trades and meets the requirements of the European Union.
The Self-Government of the Town of Jászapáti does its best for the economic development of the town and the region. In the spirit of this, in 2002 it established Jászapáti Industrial and Logistical Park, which, through its infrastructural development, provides ever more favourable conditions for investors.
Jászapáti offers the investors industrial infrastructure, human resource development in line with labour market requirements as well as a labour force seeking jobs that appreciates job possibilities close to its home.
